MADISON, Wis. – Many active duty and recently discharged members of the U.S. military can now use the training they received in the military to get a Wisconsin commercial driver’s license (CDL).
Gov. Walker’s office made the announcement Thursday.
The governor’s office says the training undergone by military CDL holders and the testing they do to become licensed is as good as or better than what’s required by federal law.
So there will now be an “even exchange” of a military CDL for a Wisconsin CDL, similar to the seamless exchange when a driver moves to Wisconsin from a different state.
