Across the border in the Idaho Panhandle, Priest Lake is a favorite destination for all four seasons.
The lake sits about 80 miles north of Spokane in what could not be a greater contrast to the city. With mountains covered in thick western forests, even the developed parts of the shoreline seem to blend in and offer the feeling of a massive backcountry lake.
Priest Lake is known for its summer season but the town keeps the area vibrant year-round, including abundant snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
When snow allows the 5.5-mile Lakeview Mountain Trail is a must. The trail provides some of the best views in the area as it takes hikers above the trees to vistas of the lake and surrounding mountains.
