BAKER CITY, Oregon (KBOI) — The eastbound I-84 has reopened for travel following several crashes in Baker City Saturday morning.
The Oregon Department of Transportation says several vehicles, including semi-trucks, crashed on icy roads near Milepost 351. This includes one crash involving a truck that spilled potatoes all over the road.
Travelers can expect delays and single lane traffic in the area. They are asking everyone to drive with caution and expect spots of ice in some areas.
They also advise that drivers stay on main highways and not follow GPS navigation directions onto unfamiliar roadways that may not be passable in winter conditions.
US 20 will remain closed in both directions to through traffic between Vale and Burns throughout the day and possibly into the evening due to truck crash and vehicle fire.
ODOT sayys local residents can access Harper from the east and Juntura from the west, but the route is fully closed between Juntura and Harper.
Travelers are advised to wait in a safe location until it reopens because alternate routes are experiencing icy conditions.
