TWIN FALLS — The Bureau of Land Management is sending out resources to 10 fires that are believed to have been caused by lightning.
The fires stretch all the way from the Nevada border up to Blaine County. The Twin Falls district of the BLM is shifting resources as needed to go out to the fires, which are all a long ways from each other, spokeswoman Kelsey Brizendine said.
“As they’re getting out there, they’re seeing more (fires) starting on their way,” she said.
All of the fire reports have come in just since Monday morning. There are 23 engines that have been sent out from BLM, Sawtooth National Forest and the College of Southern Idaho Great Basin staging area.
The Blaine County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the BLM on a 2-acre fire southwest of Hailey.
Also, shortly after 4 p.m., there was a report of a fire in the Castleford area — at approximately 3175 North, 1100 East — in the desert. Castleford Fire Department is responding, an emergency dispatcher said.
