A motorcyclist from California died after he crashed into a barrier Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 43 east of Beloit, the Rock County, authorities said.
Leonard A. White, 68, of Vallejo, California, died after the crash that occurred about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday at mile marker 5 on the southbound Interstate in the town of Turtle, according to a news release from the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Authorities think a “medical condition” might have led to White losing control of the motorcycle, although details of his health and whether it played a role in the crash aren’t yet confirmed, the Wisconsin State Patrol said in a release on Thursday.
The State Patrol said White lost control of his motorcycle, crossed the southbound lanes and crashed into a concrete barrier. White had “significant” damage to his shoulder, chest and right leg, the State Patrol said.
White was alert at the scene of the crash, but later, after he was transported, died of injuries, the State Patrol said.
White was pronounced dead at 6:38 p.m. at a hospital, according to the release.
The death remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Rock County Medical Examiner’s Department.
